Unlike blogs, tumblelogs aren’t designed like a newspaper column. They’re the easiest way to share everything you find, love, hate, or create — even if you’re not wordy. Tumblr is a site that supports microblogging. The features of the site are:
- Text: You can add a text post from here.
- Photo: You can upload your photos over here. The Max size is 10 MB. You also have an option to set a custom post URL like: http://username.tumblr.com/post/123456/nameofphoto
- Quote: A quote can be added from this section.
- Link: Thats my favorite. You can add your blog URL over here.
- Chat: Add a chat post over here.
- Audio: You can upload one audio file each day. MP3s only. 10 MB maximum.
- Video: Paste URL from video sites like YouTube or Vimeo, or the raw Embed-tag from any video/flash site. (ie. http://youtube.com/watch?v=oCmAD-z7-mA)
- Groups: A Group is a tumblelog with the special ability to invite others to post. Groups can be public or private.
- Private groups are the perfect way to share things with a group of people. Just name your group, and invite friends, family, or colleagues to join. Once they join, they can invite people too.
- Public groups are full-featured tumblelogs with the ability to invite others to post. Once invited, members share full control.
