Weebly is a user-friendly online tool, which you can use to create your own free websites within a sub domain of weebly.com. You also have an option to register a new domain from weebly or you can also use a domain, which you already have. You can use the following tools for creating your site in weebly:
- Elements: Elements function as the building blocks of the pages. An element can be:
- Paragraph: You have the option to select a paragraph with title, paragraph with picture, custom HTML, etc.
- Picture: You can add a photo and a photo gallery in your free site.
- File: You can upload a file from here.
- Audio Player: Weebly’s audio player makes it incredibly easy to add music, podcasts, or other audio files directly into your website. However, it is only available for pro members.
- You tube video: You can add You tube videos to your site by this element. To add a You tube video, click anywhere on the default video. Above your website, you should see the “element tooblar” appear. In here, you should paste the YouTube URL for your chosen video (eg. http://youtube.com/watch?v=tBxBKIoTAkQ) and then click your website background (don’t click back on the video).
- Google video: In a similar way you can add a Google video.
- Flickr photo slideshow: You can add your Flickr photos by selecting this element.
- Google Maps: You can add Google maps for your site.
- Google Adsense: Using the Google AdSense element, you can easily place advertising on your Weebly site and generate money from your website traffic. Half of your website visitors will see ads that make you money and half the visitors will see ads that make Weebly money. This way, Weebly splits the revenue generated on your website 50/50.
- Adbrite Ads: You can add the adbrite ads in the similar fashion.
- Contact form: You can add a nice contact form to your site. Comments submitted through the contact form element are sent to your account’s email address by default. You also have the option to change this email address.
- Feed reader: You have the option to enter the feed of your site or any other feed. Just put the Feed URL of your feed and it will be displayed in your site.
- Crossword and other games: They also provide mini games for your site.
- Design: The Design tab contains a variety of theme/template choices. Hover your mouse over a design thumbnail to get a preview of the design on your website. Click the thumbnail to save the design selection for your website.
- Pages: From here you can create new page and new blog.
