It’s always good to have email list as it helps to reach out to your customers. You can send them latest news, views and reviews about your company. This not only increases sales but also it will increase the awareness. But you need to be very careful when you are building your email list. You should not start adding people who don’t have any interest in your products. Some people in the process of building an email list end up in adding the address book of their email client and eventually end up in spamming.  So how to build an email list? The best option is to put up a sign up page in your website from which users can sign up for your newsletters. The process should be double opt-in. Double opt-in is the preferred method for email newsletter subscriptions as it guarantees that the person who signed up for the list is the owner of the email address that they signed up with. In this case the user has to click on a link in the confirmation message which is sent to them when they sign up for a particular list. This rules out the possibility of spamming as the user has already agreed to receive the emails for you. In the rare event if they file a spam complaint you can show your ISP the sign up records that the user has specifically requested to receive your mailings.

Another way of building an email list is to use sign up sheets at events. When you have an event of some sort where you have invited some prospective customers, then you can use this method to have their email address entered if they are interested. Well, this is not very much effective but still it is one of the ways to build your email list.
